No Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo keynotes at GDC 2010
None of the big three hardware manufacturers will be holding keynotes at this year’s Game Developers Conference.
GDC has been the venue of some high-profile announcements in recent years, including reveals for Gears of War 2, LittleBigPlanet and Zelda: Spirit Tracks. But for 2010, there will be no keynotes from Microsoft, Nintendo or Sony.
The move would seem to be largely due to a separate hardware manufacturer event taking place in San Francisco on GDC week, although organizers Think Services have apparently declined to make an official statement on the subject.
That doesn’t mean that the big three will be entirely absent, however. A session showcasing Sony’s PS3 motion controller has already been confirmed.
Elsewhere at GDC 2010, a number of high-profile developers are already confirmed. Strategy legend Sid Meier, Naughty Dog, Blizzard boss Rob Pardo, Lionhead’s Peter Molyneux, Double Fine’s Tim Schafer and
Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama will all be presenting.
Held at San Francisco’s Moscone Center, GDC 2010 runs from Mar. 9 – 13.
