No modding tools at release for Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Bad news for all you budding modders out there, word has come through that Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will not come equipped with modding capabilities when the game hits shelves in early March. “The player can change settings on the dedicated server but there won’t be modding tools included in the retail game,” explains Patrick Bach, senior producer on Bad Company 2.
Quality assurance has been cited as the reason for the lack of out-of-the-box modding tools, with DICE apparently focusing their resources on creating a polished final product, as opposed to “a buggy game with average gameplay but with modding possibilities.” However, there is still a small glimmer of hope as Bach mentions that “theoretically we could still add mod support after release.”
If you haven’t already, I urge you to download the Bad Company 2 multiplayer demo which goes offline Feb. 25th, giving you a week-or-so left to experience the joy and sorrow of hastily trying to get in the pilot seat of that blasted beautiful Apache.
