Nyko reveals their CES 2009 line-up

We here at TVGB are usually big fans of Nyko’s game controller redesigns, but I’m sorry their newest controller, The Wand, looks a bit like what we imagine a Wii Remote would look like if it was partially aborted. Though sometimes looks aren’t always what really matter. If you can look past the square buttons and down right awkward looking D-pad than The Wand is going to offer you some features that the Wii Remote does not. For starters The Wand contains Nyko’s all-new Trans-Port technology, which enables control and vibration feedback to be electrically replicated on a compatible attachment accessory, providing for faster and more accurate input response. In short every button on The Wand can be re-mapped onto a different button on a compatible attachment accessory. This means that players won’t have to reach up to hit the buttons on the top of the control and that reaction time between button presses and in game actions will be faster. So despite the fact that The Wand seems to have fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every possible branch on the way down, it’s what’s on the inside that counts.

Nyko is also revealing a redesigned charging station for the Wii Remote called the Charge Station EX. It’s basically the same as the original Charge Station, just a bit sleeker and with battery charge level indicators. Finally, for those who own the Nyko Kama, Nyko is delivering a charge station for that, since the thing normally requires yet another set of batteries. Check them out after the break.

Interesting fact that’s also environmentally friendly: the original Charge Station is the top selling third party accesory in North America.
