Rumor: Rare to demo Kinect voice functionality at E3

Speaking with 123KINECT in April, Rare’s studio manager, Scott Henson said, “We’re going to make using your voice much more front and center – we’ve just scratched the surface on that.”

Now, it appears that whatever vocal gameplay Rare has been cooking up will make an appearance at E3 this coming week. A source close to Rare told the site that the Microsoft-owned studio is set to unveil a demo during the company’s E3 conference, which will showcase new voice-based input possibilities for gameplay.

To take full advantage of voice recognition, a new Kinect update would have to be made available, since voice control still doesn’t work beyond the US and UK. Either way, we’ll see what Rare might have in store when the Microsoft press conference kicks off tomorrow (9:00AM – Pacific Time).
