Sony may offer reward for PSN hackers — report

Sony is considering opening its wallet to anyone who provides information on those ever-elusive PlayStation Network hackers. Or that’s the word obtained by CNET, at least.

Citing “people familiar with the matter,” the site says the company’s top executives are currently toying with the idea of offering a reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for the ongoing downtime. The approach is not yet set in stone though as the execs are still weighing the pros and cons. In addition, approval from the company’s big cheeses in Tokyo is apparently still needed.

Should they decide in favor of the reward however, it will be implemented in cooperation with the law enforcement agencies the company’s working with, including the FBI.

Meanwhile, PSN, expected to regain consciousness last week, remains offline after a last-minute delay. There’ll be free games though!
