Stalker license rumored to be in Bethesda’s hands

The plot thickens; the reason for development on Stalker 2 being halted may be because Bethesda now holds the license. That’s what a rumor rising from the ashes of the now-defunct GSC Game World says, anyway.

Reports from Russia (via) point to a statement from GSC boss Sergei Grigorovich, which reads (tolerate the Google Translate, if you would): “I realized that this concept is the stalker will not be of interest to many players and decided to remove all the work. Said comments are rumor at their purest form then. Nothing has been confirmed. When reached for comment, Bethesda declined.

As reported just a bit ago, GCS employees have founded a new studio, Vostok Games, and are working on a new MMOFPS for 2013.
