Tim Schafer and Ron Gilbert are together again

In a re-marriage that was bound to happen sooner or later, Ron Gilbert has joined the ranks of Double Fine, joining forces with Tim Schafer.

For those who might’ve forgotten, Ron Gilbert’s history involved the fruition of the first two Monkey Island games, Maniac Mansion, and the recent DeathSpank. Tim Schafer’s track record isn’t bad either, with both Psychonauts and Brütal Legend to brag about.

The last time these two have worked together was back in the 90s on Day of the Tentacle and the first two Monkey Island games, so the magical chemistry between the two may be apparent already.

“For the last couple of months Tim has been loaning me his desk here [at Double Fine], as he has in the past,” Gilbert said. “We have just been talking about different ideas I’ve had for games, kinda going back and forth like we do, and then Tim suggested, ‘Hey why don’t you come here and build this thing.”

So what is this “thing” they’re building? They won’t say–it is the game-maker way.

Look for more Schafer and Gilbert shenanigans to show up in the near future.
