The UK is getting its own special edition of Dead Island Riptide, with a somewhat controversial item included (just look at the bust up above to see what I mean). Available to pre-order now and an Xbox 360 exclusive, Dead Island Zombie Bait Edition is an extremely limited collector’s item made to celebrate the release of Dead Island Riptide on April 26th in Europe.
This item is solely European, so you need friends or a vacation to get this if you don’t live there (if you are a really good swimmer, then you’re good). The main attraction of this collection is the resin statue: a particularly gruesome take on Roman marble torso sculptures, this 31 cm high and 18.5 cm wide bust of the remains of one of Palanai Island’s infected is hand-painted and vomit-inducing.
Also included in this rare package is a special Steelbook edition of Dead Island Riptide, collectable artwork cards, and an exclusive pack of weapon modifications to help make your upcoming zombie butchering days a little easier.
Dead Island Riptide will be available for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC on April 23rd in the U.S and Canada, while the rest of the world will be getting its bloodied hands on it April 26th.
Update: Deep Silver has issued an apology over the statue over twitter, stating they regret this choice. It is unclear whether the item will still be released or perhaps altered in an effort to make it less offensive.
