Xbox Live Gold subscription prices to increase

Best renew that Gold subscription in a hurry; as of November 1, the prices of several Xbox Live Gold memberships in Canada, Mexico, the UK and the US will increase.

A monthly sub in the US will be $9.99 instead of the current $7.99, $24.99 for three months (currently $19.99), and $59.99 for 12 months (currently $49.99). A1 month sub in the UK will be pushed to 5.99 GBP (currently 4.99 GBP) and $9.99 CAD in Canada (currently $8.99 CAD). And finally, the 12 month sub in Mexico will be 599 Pesos instead of the current 499.

All other subscriptions remain unaffected.

As Xbox Live’s director of programming Larry Hryb informs via his blog, Microsoft has “continually added more content and entertainment experiences” since Xbox Live’s launch in 2002, “while keeping the price the same.” But no more.

Regardless of the hikes, however, the company’s “confident that when the new pricing takes effect, an Xbox LIVE Gold membership will continue to offer the best value in the industry.”
