Xfire sold off

Popular PC gaming social networking tool Xfire has a new owner: Titan Gaming.

The news was first revealed through a post by Xfire general manager Chris Kirmse on the official site, with Titan later sending official word on the acquisition.

The details of the deal go undisclosed, but Titan — a company specializing in monetization, be it through in-game currency, betting or video advertising — is set to take on the Xfire name and plans to “utilize the Xfire platform to help gaming companies better engage their users.”

According to Kirmse , the majority of the team who’ve been developing the service for the last six years, and over 127 releases, is departing.

The service is said to continue uninterrupted.
