Need for Speed Hot Pursuit confirmed, coming this fall
When the news hit that Burnout developer Criterion would be taking on the next iteration in the Need for Speed franchise, we felt our heart pumping just a little bit faster than usual. When we just saw Criterion’s presentation of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit at EA’s press conference at E3, we might have had a heart attack from all the excitement. Finally, it’s here, it’s back…
Now official, Criterion and EA will be releasing Need for Speed Hot Pursuit for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in November this year. Criterion is putting speed back into the franchise, and back are the exotic, high-end cars blasting through wild and equally exotic locations. Back are the cops, both on wheels and in the air, and the adrenaline-fueled pursuits. Race through career modes as a racer or cop, solo or connected with the new Autolog feature that will keep track of performances, stats and everything that happens with your driving as well as your friends’ achievements, getaways and busts. When you’re done with the numbers, challenge each other in the ultimate social high-speed pursuits.
Craig Sullivan, Creative Director of the game said, “At Criterion, we’ve been playing Need for Speed since it was first introduced on 3DO. We are honored and excited by the opportunity to reinvent the franchise for today’s connected audience. Our goal has been to create cops vs. racers pursuits that are so fun, fast and exciting it really brings to life the adrenaline and intensity of the high speed cop pursuit experience with your friends.”
