Sims 4 players have created mods that add new features to the Sims 4 base game (consider mods downloadable expansion packs made by players)…for free!
One of the most popular mods available is the Slice of Life mod, which enhances gameplay to make the Sims 4 more realistic than ever before.
The Slice of Life mod allows Sims to access new interactions. Sims will also be able to experience new emotions and react to others in a more sophisticated way. Even the Sim’s facial features will get more expressive.
The Slice of Life mod is not made by Electronic Arts, the creators of the Sims 4. It’s a user-created mod made by Kawaiistacie.
In order to enjoy all of the fun that comes with the Slice of Life mod, you’ll need to download the zip file to your downloads folder and then extract the content into the Sims 4 mods folder.
If you do not extract the file to the correct location, you will not get access to the content. Verify the destination before you extract the file. Your extraction tool may automatically extract the file to your downloads folder if you don’t change the destination manually.
In order to enjoy the slice of life mod, you’ll need to enable script mods. By default, the option to enable script mods is not checked, so you’ll need to go into the Sims 4 game options to select it manually if you haven’t already.
If you completed the installation properly, the mod will appear in a popup of your downloadable content once you open the Sims 4.
You will access a majority of your new options through the Slice of Life option when you interact with your Sim.
Updates to the Slice of Life mod updates consistently arrive online, so be sure to check periodically so that you have the most updated version of the mod.
What’s New With the Slice of Life Mod?
With the slice of life mod, you’ll be able to experience many new features. These are just some of the things your Sim will get to enjoy
Your Sims Can Get Drunk
Sims have the ability to celebrate the same way as most adults in America… by having a drink! With the new drunk system, you’ll be able to experience the effects of alcohol more thoroughly than ever before.
Sims can learn the mixologist skill or hire a mixologist to obtain drinks from the bar.
After a Sim imbibes, watch out! After only one drink, they may get a little dazed and clumsy for 30 minutes per drink- an experience not available in the base game. The Sim may fail to complete normal tasks in this state, such as dropping drinks.
A nap or a shower may help get the Sim sober if the party gets out of hand.
Get Your Period
Female Sims now get to experience more of the joys of womanhood by getting a menstrual cycle every twelve days. For the next two days, the Sim will need to use the appropriate items to stay clean and sanitary, so we recommend buying feminine hygiene products in advance.
Even then, your Sim may feel uncomfortable during their menstrual cycle. You can combat the discomfort with some self-care, but it can still negatively impact your Sim’s social life.
Feel New Personality Options and Expressions
Sims 4 characters have an adequate personality system in the base game. However, the slice of life mod adds even more personalities and emotions.
Some of the new emotions your Sim will be able to experience include:
Your Sims will learn new facial expressions to correspond with the new emotional range available to them. For example, your Sim will get rosy cheeks when flustered or dark circles under their eyes when sleepy.
New Memory System
Your Sims will now include a memory system that allows for more colorful backstories between relationships. Sims will especially remember special moments, such as weddings, deaths, and children. These past experiences will impact relationships throughout the game instead of relationships being based solely on immediate interactions. As in real life, the memories will dissipate with time and become replaced by more current experiences.
Advanced Sickness System
Getting sick is a real life experience previously somewhat overlooked in the Sims 4 base game. But not anymore.
You will know when a Sim gets sick when they experience symptoms, such as fever, runny nose, itch, or stomachbugs. Your Sim may need to call off of work or visit the doctor if the symptoms grow worse.
The best way to stay healthy is with a healthy diet and exercise. However, you can manage illness by taking vitamins and developing your immune system through exposure (albeit, that’s a risky move).
Some illnesses can’t be avoided. Sims can pass down genetic illnesses. Senior Sims may also experience Alzheimer’s.
Children will be able to get vaccinated. They will also lose their front two teeth. Teens will get pimples, too. Luckily, there are skin treatments available!
In the slice of life mod, you’ll get new features in your smartphone. You’ll have the option to text other Sims, but you’ll also have the ability to download new apps, such as:
The updated phone is your first step into an updated social life.
When you download the slice of life mod to your mods folder, you open up a world of new possibilities. Your Sims will go through more authentic life experiences, and they’ll respond in more detail. Find out for yourself and download the slice of life mod today!
