Ghost of Sparta dev says PSP was “doomed from beginning”

Ready at Dawn are without question one of the best developers on PSP, giving us three great titles in Daxter and then both God of War: Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus. Which such an impressive bunch of titles under their belts you’d think they would be the last people to speak out against the handheld, but that didn’t stop team founder Ru Weerasuriya stating that the system was “doomed from the beginning” in an interview with Edge.

“It was doomed from the very get-go. There are some things which aren’t conductive to calling it a true portable gaming platform and calling it a connective platform, although it has wi-fi.” We guess he’s talking about the system’s performance sales wise rather than content wise.

“There’s so many things that publishers and the manufacturer and Sony dropped the ball on – it’s natural, it’s the first one.”

He does go on to admit that “it’s a good platform and you can make some amazing things on it”. Perhaps we’ll see some new projects from RaD on that PSP 2.
